Description: ST2 antibody detects mouse ST2 and is common to all three isoforms. ST2 is a member of a superfamily containing the interleukin-1 receptor and the Toll-like receptors (TLRs). The TLRs are signaling molecules that recognize different microbial products during infection and serve as an important link between the innate and adaptive immune responses. ST2 was originally identified as a protein whose production was stimulated by various proliferation-inducing agents such as PDGF and FGF. More recently, it has been shown to negatively regulate IL-1 receptor and Toll-like receptor (TLR) 4 signaling and to maintain endotoxin tolerance. It has been suggested that the inhibition of TLR4 signaling occurs through the association and sequestering of TLR adaptor molecules such as MyD88 and TIRAP. Anti-ST2 antibodies are ideal for investigators involved in cytokine and growth factors research.

Description: SPATA19, also known as SPERGEN1, was initially identified as a testis-specific protein that localizes to the surface of mitochondria in the middle piece of mature spermatozoa. Recent experiments have shown that elevated levels of SPATA19 have been found in basal cell carcinomas and prostate cancers, suggesting that SPATA19 may serve as a putative cancer biomarker and a target for cancer immunotherapy.

Description: The sterol regulatory element binding transcription factor 1 (SREBF1) is a transcription factor that binds to the sterol regulatory element-1 (SRE1), which is a decamer flanking the low density lipoprotein receptor gene and some genes involved in sterol biosynthesis (1). The related protein SREBF2 also binds SRE1 and activates transcription in an additive fashion to SREBF1 (2). SREBF1 is synthesized as a precursor that is attached to the nuclear membrane and endoplasmic reticulum. Following cleavage, the mature protein translocates to the nucleus and activates transcription by binding to the SRE1 (3). The SREBF1 proteins are important in the regulation of genes involved in lipid metabolism, while SREBF2 has been more closely associated with cholesterol synthesis and accumulation (4).

Description: STAU1 is a member of a family of double-stranded RNA (dsRNA)-binding proteins involved in the transport and/or localization of mRNAs to different subcellular compartments and/or organelles. These proteins are characterized by the presence of multiple dsRNA-binding domains which are required to bind RNAs having double-stranded secondary structures. The human STAU1 also contains a microtubule- binding domain similar to that of microtubule-associated protein 1B, and binds tubulin. STAU1 has been shown to be present in the cytoplasm in association with the rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER), implicating this protein in the transport of mRNA via the microtubule network to the RER. STAU1 is also known to interact with influenza ribonucleoproteins NS1, NP, and PA and is required for efficient viral replication.

Description: Signal transducer and activator of transcription 1 (Stat1) belongs to a family of cytoplasmic transcription factors that can be activated by a cell surface receptor. Stat1 has two isoforms. Stat1 has been found to be inappropriately activated in many tumors. In addition to tyrosine phosphorylation, Stat1 is phosphorylated through a p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK)-dependent pathway at Ser727 in response to IFN-g and other cellular stresses. Stat1 is localized in the cytoplasm and upon phosphorylation at Y701 is translocated to the nucleus.

Description: The six-transmembrane epithelial antigen of prostate 1 (STEAP1) was the first member of a family of metalloreductases identified as cell-surface antigens in prostate tissue. The normal function of STEAP is still uncertain; unlike other members of the STEAP family, STEAP1 does not promote iron or copper reduction or uptake and lacks the FNO-like reductase domain critical for activity. However, its expression is highly increased in multiple cancer cell lines, including prostate, bladder, colon, and ovarian cancers. Supporting this is evidence that STEAP1 peptides can be used to stimulate CD8+ T cells from healthy donors, enabling them to recognize STEAP1-positive human tumor cells, suggesting that STEAP1 may a potential target for cancer immunotherapy. At least three isoforms of STEAP1 are known to exist.

Description: The development of spermatogonial stem cells into spermatozoa, i.e., spermatogenesis, is a highly ordered process that requires multiple proteins, including some that are testis-specific or testis-specific isoforms of genes that are expressed in other tissues. One such protein is SPATA6: while its full-length isoform is expressed in multiple tissues including thymus, brain and testis, the shorter isoform is expressed only in testis. It has some homology to the motor domain of kinesin related proteins and with the C. elegans neural calcium sensor protein NCS-2.

Description: The M1/69 antibody reacts with mouse CD24, a cell surface molecule also known as Heat Stable Antigen (HSA). CD24 is a GPI-linked glycoprotein involved in cell adhesion and is a ligand for CD62P (P-selectin). It is expressed on erthrocytes, thymocytes, peripheral lymphocytes and myeloid lineage cells. The expression of CD24 is used to delineate stages of of lymphocyte development in the bone marrow.

Description: The 30-H12 antibody reacts with mouse CD90.2 (Thy1.2). CD90.2 is a strain-specific allelic form of the GPI-linked membrane associated protein CD90 and is involved in adhesion and signal transduction. CD90.2 is expressed on thymocytes, mature T cells and neurons in mouse strains that express the CD90.2 allele (BALB/c, CBA, C3H, C57BL/6, SJL and others). 30-H12 does not react with the CD90.1 allele expressed in mouse strains such as PL and AKR.

Description: The PC61.5 antibody is specific for mouse CD25, a 55 kDa surface protein also known as the Interleukin-2 Receptor alpha chain, or IL-2R alpha. CD25 may bind IL-2 by itself, although with low affinity and without induction of cell signaling. CD25 is also expressed within a high-affinity complex, along with the IL-2R beta chain (CD122) and the common gamma chain (CD132), to form a signaling receptor complex. Expression of CD25 varies during developmental stages of T and B cells, is induced on activated mature T and B cells, and is present on subsets of dendritic cells. CD25 signaling as part of the IL-2 receptor complex triggers T cell activation and proliferation, as well as modulating the differentiation and function of Th17 cells, T regulatory (Treg) cells, and dendritic cells. The PC61.5 antibody is used as a marker for T cells, B cells and dendritic cell subsets. Expression of CD25, CD4 and the transcription factor Foxp3 is regarded as a phenotypic signature for Treg cells. As such, this antibody is widely used for depletion of Treg cells in vivo, as well as to distinguish Treg cells from naive or conventional T cells which are CD25-.

Description: Spred2 is a member of the Sprouty family, a group of proteins that act as negative regulators during development. Like Spred1, Spred2 acts by suppressing the phosphorylation and activation of Raf. The Spred proteins have also been implicated in the negative feedback regulation of FGF signaling in embryogenesis and angiogenesis. Further studies have shown that expression levels of Spred1 and Spred2 proteins are inversely correlated with the incidence of tumor invasion and metastasis in human hepatocellular carcinoma (HHC), suggesting that these proteins could be useful as prognostic factors and therapeutic targets in HCC. At least two isoforms of Spred2 are known to exist.

Description: Spred1 antibody detects human Spred1. The Ras-MAP kinase pathway is essential for the differentiation of neuronal cells and myocytes; it is inhibited by Spred1, a member of the Sprouty family of proteins. Spred1 acts by suppressing the phosphorylation and activation of Raf. Defects in this gene are a cause of neurofibromatosis type 1-like syndrome (NFLS). Anti-Spred1 antibodies are ideal for investigators involved in cell cycle proteins and cancer research.

Description: Toll-like receptors (TLRs) are evolutionarily conserved pattern-recognition molecules resembling the toll proteins that mediate antimicrobial responses in Drosophila. These proteins recognize different microbial products during infection and serve as an important link between the innate and adaptive immune responses. The TLRs act through adaptor molecules such as MyD88 and TIRAP to activate various kinases and transcription factors so the organism can respond to potential infection. TLR5 recognizes flagellin from both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and will cause the activation of NF-kB, leading to the activation of TNF-a and other cytokines. A common TLR5 stop codon polymorphism that disrupts TLR5 signaling is associated with susceptibility to Legionnaires'disease and demonstrates the importance of TLR5 in the innate immune response.
