Description: AKT2 is a component of the PI-3 kinase pathway and is activated by phosphorylation at Ser 473 and Thr 308. AKT is a cytoplasmic protein also known as Protein Kinase B (PKB) and RAC (Related to A and C kinases). AKT is a key regulator of many signal transduction pathways, and it exhibits tight control over cell proliferation and cell viability. Overexpression or inappropriate activation of AKT is noted in many types of cancer. AKT mediates many of the downstream events of PI 3-kinase (a lipid kinase activated by growth factors, cytokines and insulin). PI 3-kinase recruits AKT to the membrane, where it is activated by PDK1 phosphorylation. Once phosphorylated, AKT dissociates from the membrane and phosphorylates targets in the cytoplasm and the cell nucleus. AKT has two main roles: (i) inhibition of apoptosis; (ii) promotion of proliferation. AKT2 recombinant protein is ideal for investigators involved in Cell Signaling, Neuroscience and Signal Transduction research.

Description: Beta Amyloid functions as a cell surface receptor and performs physiological functions on the surface of neurons relevant to neurite growth, neuronal adhesion and axonogenesis. It is expressed in all fetal tissues with the highest levels located in the brain, kidney, heart and spleen tissue. It is involved in cell mobility, transcription regulation via protein-protein interactions and copper homeostasis/oxidative stress through copper ion reduction. The copper-metallated APP induces neuronal death directly in vitro, or is potentiated through Cu2+ mediated low-density lipoprotein oxidation. It has binding capabilities via its C-terminus for transient metals such as copper, zinc and iron. It binds APBB1-KAT5 to promote transcription activation and inhibits Notch signaling through interaction with Numb. It also promotes tau aggregation and TPK II-mediated phosphorylation. Anti-Beta Amyloid regulates neurite outgrowth by binding components in the cellular matrix such as heparin, collagen I and amyloid-beta peptide, leading to mitochondrial dysfunction in cultured cortical neurons. Defects in APP cause Alzheimer disease type 1 and cerebral amyloid angiopathy. This antibody is ideal for researchers interested in Cancer or Neuroscience research.

Description: Secreted as part of the adaptive immune response by plasma B cells, immunoglobulin G constitutes 75% of serum immunoglobulins. Immunoglobulin G binds to viruses, bacteria, as well as fungi and facilitates their destruction or neutralization via agglutination (and thereby immobilizing them), activation of the compliment cascade, and opsinization for phagocytosis. This product possesses the F(ab')2 fragment, recognized by the two F(ab) fragments yielded from the digestion of the antibody below the disulfide bond hinge region.

Description: Apoptosis plays a major role in normal organism development, tissue homeostasis, and removal of damaged cells and is caused by caspase activation. Proteins that comprise the Bcl-2 family appear to control the activation of these enzymes. One such member is multi-domain antiapoptotic protein Bfl-1, which is overexpressed in stomach and other cancers. Bfl-1 can interact with Bax and suppress apoptosis by inhibiting the release of cytochrome c and caspase-3 activation. It is upregulated in cisplatin-resistant human bladder tumors, suggesting that its expression may be important for cisplatin resistance and inhibition of apoptosis in cancer cells. At least two isoforms of Bfl-1 are known to exist.

Description: BMP15, or GDF9B is a member of the bone morphogenetic protein family which is part of the transforming growth factor-beta superfamily that are involved in embryonic development and adult tissue homeostasis. BMP15 is expressed exclusively in the oocyte. It is an oocyte-specific growth/differentiation factor that may be involved in oocyte maturation and follicular development. Defects in BMP15 are the cause of ovarian dysgenesis type 2. BMP15 could be used as an oogenesis marker to track human amniotic fluid stem cells differentiation into the oocyte-like cells.

Description: Apoptosis is related to many diseases and induced by a family of cell death receptors and their ligands. Cell death signals are transduced by death domain containing adapter molecules and members of the caspase family of proteases. These death signals finally cause the degradation of chromosomal DNA by activated DNase. A mouse DNase that causes DNA fragmentation was identified recently and designated CAD (for caspase activated deoxyribonuclease). The human homologue of mouse CAD was more recently identified by two groups independently and termed CPAN and DFF40. Human DFF45 and its mouse homologue ICAD are the inhibitors of CPAN/DFF40 and CAD, respectively. Upon cleavage of DFF45/ICAD by activated caspase, DFF40/CAD is released and activated and eventually causes the degradation of DNA in the nuclei. Activation of CAD/DFF40, which causes DNA degradation, is the hallmark of apoptotic cell death.

Description: EMX2, like its closely related homolog EMX1, is a homeobox transcription factor involved in specifying cell fates in the developing central nervous system and participates in the development of olfactory neurons. EMX2 is expressed in the dorsal telencephalon during development in a low rostral-lateral to high caudal-medial gradient and is proposed to pattern the neocortex into defined functional areas. It is also expressed in embryonic and adult olfactory neuroepithelia where it complexes with eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E (eIF4E) and possibly regulates mRNA transport or translation. In the developing urogenital system, it is expressed in epithelial tissues and is negatively regulated by HOXA10.

Description: EPAC1, also known as Rap guanine nuclear exchange factor 3 and cAMPGEF-I, is widely expressed but most prominently in brain, heart, kidney, pancreas, spleen, ovary, thyroid and spinal cord. EPAC1 is a cAMP-binding protein with intrinsic guanine nuclear exchange factor activity that couples cAMP production to the activation of Rap, a GTPase belonging to the Ras family. This activation of Rap influences numerous cellular processes such as integrin-mediated cell adhesion, vascular endothelial barrier formation, and cardiac myocyte gap junction formation. Recently, EPAC1 has been suggested to also be involved in the cAMP-dependent regulation of ion channel formation, intracellular Ca++ signalling, ion transporter activity, and exocytosis.

Description: Apoptosis plays a major role in normal organism development, tissue homeostasis, and removal of damaged cells. Disruption of this process has been implicated in a variety of diseases such as cancer. Bcl-xL is a member of the Bcl-2 family of proteins that are critical regulators of apoptosis. These can be divided into two classes: those that inhibit apoptosis and those that promote cell death. Bcl-xL is an anti-apoptotic mitochondrial protein related to Bcl-w and the major transcript of the bcl-x gene. Its high expression in tumors is correlated with advanced disease and poor prognosis. Bcl-xL expression level increases in response to several stimuli such as ionizing radiation and treatment with chemotherapeutic agents.
