3M™ Series 500 High Performance Liquid Filter Bags incorporated with bypass and transport layer design that maximizes the amount of surface area in each bag. The result is a unique filter designed to improve performance and reduce operating costs. Filter contains up to 38 square feet of usable filter media.
- Design allows for fast and easy change–out time with less labor required
- Bag compressibility allows for easy, cost–effective disposal
- Contaminant captured inside the bag only makes for easy handling
- Welded side seams create no holes from sewing
- Manufacturing processes do not include the use of silicone or adhesives for greater purity of filtered media
Compare our 38 square feet of usable filter media with only 4.4 square feet for most competitive filter bags and 0.65 square feet for most competitive cartridges.
Meltblown polypropylene microfiber filter media provides high particle removal efficiency for high quality filtration with broad chemical compatibility. We use no silicone in materials of construction or in manufacturing these products. The raw materials composing these filters are FDA compliant according to CFR Title 21.
Proper sealing of the bag in the filter housing is necessary for prevention of fluid bypass and subsequent contamination of the downstream fluid. 3M™ 500 series filter bags are offered in a metal ring sealing collar that will properly seal onto many filter bag manufacturers' housings.
Each filter bag grade is manufactured from high performance fibers based on extensive media performance testing. They provide good to excellent chemical resistance to mineral acids, organic acids, alkalis, organic solvents, and microorganisms. All 3M™ 500 series filter bags are ISO 9001:2008 certified and do not include silicone, binders, or adhesives.
To make use of this entire surface area, we constructed the Series 500 Liquid Filter Bag using the patented Bypass/Transport concept invented by our 3M™ researchers. We cut specially designed bypass holes into certain areas to prevent premature blinding of the filter. In conjunction with the bypass design, a second media, called a transport layer, helps to distribute fluid flow evenly through the filter. The outer layers provide a highly uniform barrier for final particle filtration. This construction results in very high dirt loading capacity, even at high flow rates. Welded Side Seams form the bag and secure the sealing ring. Because there are no sewn holes there is no particle by–pass through the seam. State–of–the–art procedures are then used to properly weld the seams and affix the media to the collar and form a complete, cohesive filter with no holes from sewing.
