The DeBakey Atraumatic Vena Cava Clamp is a ratcheted, finger ring instrument, specially designed for total or partial occlusion of either the superior vena cava or the inferior vena cava. The inferior vena cava is the largest vein in the human body. Although it is a large vessel, it's walls are very thin and thus the benefit of using atraumatic clamps for controlling blood flow.
