Protein Concentrators PES are disposable ultrafiltration centrifugal devices with a polyethersulfone (PES) membrane for concentration, desalting, and buffer exchange of biological samples such as proteins and nucleic acids.
- Sample concentration of 10- to 30-fold can be achieved in 10 minutes or less
- Unique design minimises membrane fouling and provides high speed concentrations, even with particle laden solutions
- Compatible with most bench-top microcentrifuges with fixed-angle rotors that accommodate 2.2 ml tubes
- Molecular weight cutoff
- Can be used for processing sample volumes
- Rapid protein concentration
- Excellent protein recovery
- Reliable, consistent results
The 0.5 ml concentrators contain a vertical PES membrane, which allows for processing of small volumes between 100 and 500 µl. The MWCOs are etched on the sides of the concentrators for easy identification, while a clear window with graduations on the side of each device allows for visual determination of the retentate volume. Typical protein recovery for proteins that are ≥two-fold greater than the MWCO is >90%.
The 2 to 6 ml concentrators have a built-in dead stop and contain a vertical low protein-binding, high flux PES membrane, which allows for processing of volumes between 2 and 6 ml. The MWCOs are etched on the sides of the concentrators for easy identification, while a clear window with graduations on the side of each device allows for visual determination of the retentate volume. Typical protein recovery for proteins that are ≥ two-fold greater than the MWCO is >90%.
Pierce™ Protein Concentrators PES contain a membrane rated for retaining molecules with a molecular weight at least twofold greater than the MWCO rating of the PES membrane within the device. Reduced recovery may occur when using a concentrator with molecules smaller than the recommended mass. Protein recovery will vary depending on the specific protein in the sample and its starting concentration.
