Epidermal growth factor (EGF) is a low-molecular weight mitogenic protein that stimulates proliferation of a wide variety of cell types in vitro. EGF can also be used for receptor, gene expression, wound healing studies, and to culture cells in reduced-serum or serum-free culture systems.

Mouse natural EGF are tested for ability to stimulate proliferation of human foreskin fibroblasts in serum-containing medium. Human recombinant EGF are shown to stimulate proliferation of human foreskin fibroblasts in serum-containing medium. All products are filtered (0.2 µm membrane) and tested and found negative for the presence of bacteria, fungi, and mycoplasma.
