When components need to be separated again or mistakes require correcting, the various desoldering tools extract the unwanted filler. Manual spring loaded plungers or electronically operated pumps suck away the molten when used in conjunction with an iron to leave the previously joined items separate. Unlike flaming wick styles, the vacuum creating plunger styles are nonexpendable allowing completion of numerous cycles if properly maintained.
