Pyronin G, powder for molecular biology
Supplier: MP BIOMEDICALS (FKA ICN BIOMED
Pyronin Y is a cationic xanthene dye. A marker dye for acid buffer systems, indicating the migrating boundary during electrophoresis. Pyronin Y solutions are red in transmitted light, displaying a yellow flouresence in reflected light.
Pyronin Y is used with methyl green for staining plasma cells and bacteria in mammalian tissue. Also used in 0.05% concentration to stain RNA. Transfer RNA (tRNA) will complex with Pyronin Y at a 1 : 10 molar ratio when analyzed by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. tRNA (4 to 8 µg) when complexed with Pyronin Y is visible as a red band during electrophoresis. Pyronin Y can also be used in correlating RNA content by flow cytometry. In addition, Pyronin Y solutions may be utilized in staining liver cells that have been fixed in Carnoy's fluid.
Soluble in water (30 mg/mL), methyl cellosolve (9 mg/mL) or ethanol (3 mg/mL).
