Environmental Test Kits

An instrumental test kit for the colorimetric analysis of silica in water. This test kit utilizes Vacu-vials® self-filling ampoules.

Heteropoly Blue Method

The silica content of water should be determined prior to its use in industrial applications as silica can form a harmful scale on equipment and heat transfer surfaces, particularly steam turbine blades. Silica will also foul reverse osmosis membranes reducing efficiency. Silica is often tested in boiler water, cooling water, natural water, wastewater, and high purity water environments.

Ordering information: This kit requires the use of a CHEMetrics Direct-Readout Photometer or a spectrophotometer capable of accepting a 13 mm diameter round cell. Instrument sold separately.

Delivery information: Kit comes in a cardboard box and contains everything needed to perform 30 tests: thirty ampoules, Neutralizer Solution, Activator Solution, 25 mL sample cup, sample cup top, ampoule blank, and instructions.
