Glycine is widely used as a buffer for a variety of immunological applications. It is frequently used in the preparation of TG Buffers (Tris-Glycine) where the buffer is used as a running and/or transfer buffer for polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and western blotting. Glycine (100 mM, pH 2.0-2.5) is also used as an eluent in column chromatography. Glycine has been reported for use in the enzymatic determination of lactate using lactic dehydrogenase.Glycine is a component of Tris-glycine and Tris-glycine-SDS running buffers for polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Glycine is also a component of Towbin′s transfer buffer for Western blots
