Sodium salicylate

A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that interferes with TNF-induced NF-[kappa]B activation by inhibiting phosphorylation and subsequent degradation of the I[kappa]B-[alpha] protein. Selectively inhibits TNF-induced activation of p42 (ERK2) and p44 (ERK1) MAP kinases. Also inhibits TNF-induced activation of JNK. Induces apoptosis via p38 kinase activation. Inhibits COX-2 and inducible NOS (iNOS) transcription independently of NF-[kappa]B activation.
