Tumor necrosis factor ligand superfamily member 12 also known as TNF-related weak inducer of apoptosis(TWEAK) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the TNFSF12 gene. The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine that belongs to the tumor necrosis factor(TNF) ligand family. This protein is a ligand for the FN14/TWEAKR receptor. This cytokine has overlapping signaling functions with TNF, but displays a much wider tissue distribution. This cytokine can induce apoptosis via multiple pathways of cell death in a cell type-specific manner. This cytokine is also found to promote proliferation and migration of endothelial cells, and thus acts as a regulator ofangiogenesis. The TNFSF12 gene lies 878 bp upstream of the putative transcriptional start site of the TNFSF13 gene on chromosome 17p13.1.
Useful in Sandwich ELISA for Quantitative Detection of Antigen. Aliquot 0.1ml per well of the 1000pg/ml, 500pg/ml, 250pg/ml, 125pg/ml, 62.5pg/ml, 31.2pg/ml, 15.6pg/ml rat TNFSF12 standard solutions into the precoated 96-well plate. Add 0.1ml of the sample diluent buffer into the control well (Zero well). Add 0.1ml of each properly diluted sample of rat cell culture supernates, serum or plasma(heparin, EDTA) to each empty well. It is recommended that each rat TNFSF12 standard solution and each sample be measured in duplicate.
