The Flex-Tip Fiber-Optic Macintosh Laryngoscope Blade, also known as the "English Channel" style blade, is particularly useful during difficult intubations or with patients suffering spinal injuries or displaced larynx, teeth, tongue, or mandible. The Flex-Tip Blade has an attached handle that controls the distal tip of the blade and allows it to move through a 70° angle. This allows the tip to lift the epiglottis and present a clear view of the vocal cords. The Flex-Tip also reduces contact with the teeth and surrounding soft tissue resulting in less trauma for the patient. These fiber-optic blades follow the Green System of fiber-optic compatibility which is indicated by a green bar at the posterior end of the blade where the blade attaches to a fiber-optic handle.
