The raised rims around each well allow tight sealing using different procedures including pressure-, adhesive-, and heat-sealing methods. The high-profile (20.75 mm) wells fit most thermal cyclers, real-time PCR detection systems, and DNA sequencers.
The patented two-component design provides stability and flatness, allowing precise positioning for automation. The skirt and deck are molded from a rigid thermostable polymer to eliminate warping and shrinkage, and the thin-wall wells are molded of virgin polypropylene with low DNA binding. The half-height skirt provides improved robotic handling and a labeling surface.
